Improving PFAC representativeness is an ongoing process that requires careful consideration of goals along with intentional actions.

Key steps in the recruitment process include gathering information about the hospital’s patient population and current PFAs, identifying gaps in representation, learning about and addressing barriers to serving as a PFA for underrepresented populations, and re-examining recruitment processes to ensure they do not unintentionally create or reinforce disparities.
