Share Information with PFAs about Hospital Health Equity Initiatives
Sharing data and information with PFAs helps develop their understanding of inward- and outward-facing hospital health equity efforts. Some PFACs designate specific meetings during the year to review hospital-level health equity goals, priorities, and data and identify opportunities for the PFAC to contribute.
Consider sharing information with PFAs about:
- hospital goals related to workforce demographics, community and population health equity, and equitable care delivery;
- staff performance goals that align with organizational-level health equity goals;
- plans for health equity-related training and education; and
- advocacy efforts for at-risk groups and populations.
Sharing data with PFAC members can help illustrate the experiences and outcomes of different patient populations. Examples of data that it might be helpful to share include:
- Race, ethnicity, and language (REaL) data;
- findings from Community Health Needs Assessments;
- data about patients’ and families’ social needs;
- data about inequities in experiences of care or health outcomes; and
- qualitative data, including feedback provided to hospital staff and leaders via complaints or leader rounding.
