IPFCC Events

IPFCC, in collaboration with the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, conducted an 18-month project to identify best practices within children's hospitals for strengthening the representativeness of PFACs and partnering with patient and family advisors on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives. The project was funded by the Lucile Packard Foundation for Children’s Health.

Join us in this webinar as we provide an overview of the project and our new resource, Strengthening the Diversity and Role of Patient and Family Advisory Councils (PFACs): Opportunities for Action. In addition, hear from a panel of individuals working on the ground to improve DEI and partner with patients and families as they share challenges, opportunities, and successes.

Patient’s and Family’s Roles in Improving Patient Safety

The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) spoke with Bev Johnson, FAAN, IPFCC President and CEO, about her experience in patient and family collaboration and improving patient safety, including how to continue to partner with families during pandemics. AHRQ recently shared their conversation about “The Role of Patient’s Family in Reducing Harm” and also published an article, “Patient and Family Roles in Safety.” The article and conversation can be accessed here.

Spotlight Family-Centered Care in Hungary

“Family-centered pediatrics" is the central theme of the Hungarian Society of Pediatricians congress this year. Bev Johnson, serving as a consultant for Ronald McDonald House Charities® (RMHC®) Global, will present “Advancing the Practice of Family-Centered Care in Pediatrics” on September 15th. The Hungarian Chapter of Ronald McDonald House Charities has planned with the Society a follow-up symposia on emergency care, surgery, neonatology, hospice/palliative care, pain management, gastroenterology, and general practice.

Inviting Leaders to Participate in a Global Family-Centered Care Survey

There is still time to participate in the global survey of leaders’ perceptions of family-centered care in children’s hospitals and hospitals providing pediatric specialty care. IPFCC is collaborating with the Ronald McDonald House Charities® Center at UCSF on this study. You can learn more about the survey here. To ensure your children’s hospital or general hospital providing pediatric specialty care can participate in this important survey, please email Marie Abraham.
