Our 9th International Conference on Patient- and Family-Centered Care: Partnerships for Quality, Safety, and Equity will be held in Nashville, TN (“Music City”) on August 18-20, 2020 and IPFCC is pleased to announce that Vanderbilt University Medical Center is serving as leadership sponsor of this inspirational and informative event. Beaumont Health is providing partnership support.

Resources for Patient and Family Faculty
logo-nysh  The NYSHealth Foundation has provided support to IPFCC for a 20-month project to develop, test, and disseminate education and implementation guidance resources for developing patient and family faculty programs within academic medical centers.

Special, Free, Webinars on Better Together Initiative
Better Together logoAs a final activity in Better Together: A Learning Community for NYS Hospitals, IPFCC is hosting two webinars highlighting the 5-year Better Together campaign. The first, on November 7th at 3:00 PM ET, will look at the experience of the Northwell Health system in revising its websites to reflect the importance of family presence and to provide helpful information for families. The second, on November 14th at 1:00 PM ET, will focus on the recently published new edition of Sick, Scared & Separated from Loved Ones. With funding from the NYSHealth Foundation, IPFCC collaborated with the New York Public Interest Research Group (NYPIRG) on this initiative.

Vermont Oxford Network (VON)
VON has been a champion of family-centered newborn intensive care for two decades. Family partners are engaged at all levels of their improvement collaboratives. At its recent Annual Quality Congress held in Chicago, Marie Abraham, VP for Programming and Publications presented with Marybeth Fry, lead family faculty, and was inspired by the parents who presented at each plenary presentation.

New Patient Engagement in Quality Measurement Rubric Supports Patient Partnerships 
PQA Measurement Rubric



This guide designed to help meaningfully involve patients as partners across the quality measure lifecycle was developed by a national roundtable convened by the Pharmacy Quality Alliance in partnership with the National Health Council and the National Quality Forum. IPFCC participated in this effort. The rubric describes engagement in quality measurement across patient-centered principles and provides recommended activities to improve engagement.

pfcc connect Upcoming November Informal Conversation
In September, PFCC.Connect hosted an informal conversation on Patients and Families in Training and Faculty Roles. PFCC.Connect members have access to recordings of this and previous conversations, along with all relevant resources.
